What Long-Term Support means
Informatica's Product Lifecycle Guide (version 2026.06) states that "Long-Term Support is available at an additional cost for Premium Success and Signature Select customers only" (Informatica Product Lifecycle Guide v2026.06 (KB DOC-18919), checked on 2026-10-03). It covers patches, security updates and critical fixes. Customers on Basic Success need to move up to Premium Success to keep receiving support, and customers on versions earlier than 10.5 must upgrade to 10.5 to qualify. The guide lists Sustaining Support only for PowerCenter 10.4, not 10.5.
Some earlier summaries quoted extended support to March 2027 and sustaining support to March 2029; the current guide does not show those dates for 10.5, so we do not use them.
Your options
- Modernize to IDMC. "PowerCenter can be modernized to IDMC (Informatica's Intelligent Data Management Cloud)" (Informatica: PowerCenter download and support notice, checked on 2026-10-03), specifically Cloud Data Integration.
- Run PowerCenter workflows on IDMC as they are. With PowerCenter Cloud Edition, "you don't rebuild mappings. You lift, import, validate and run PowerCenter workflows as-is using a secure agent" (Informatica: PowerCenter download and support notice, checked on 2026-10-03). Informatica says initial cloud readiness takes four to eight weeks for most customers; that is a vendor estimate.
- Stay on-premises with Long-Term Support. Possible to at least March 2032, at extra cost and on the required success tier (Informatica Product Lifecycle Guide v2026.06 (KB DOC-18919), checked on 2026-10-03).
- Upgrade first, then decide. Upgrade-as-a-Service takes PowerCenter 9.x or earlier 10.x straight to 10.5 (Informatica Product Lifecycle Guide v2026.06 (KB DOC-18919), checked on 2026-10-03).
- Move to a different platform. If the Salesforce ownership or IDMC pricing changes your plans, price alternatives on the same inventory.
Informatica's modernization program advertises reusing up to 100% of PowerCenter assets (Informatica: PowerCenter cloud modernization, checked on 2026-10-03). Treat that as a vendor claim to verify on your own workflows.
Migration-readiness checklist
- Inventory repositories, folders, workflows, sessions and mappings, with run frequency and owners.
- Record your PowerCenter version and Informatica success tier for every environment.
- Flag workflows using custom transformations, stored procedures or pre/post-session commands.
- Map source and target systems, including any that will also change in the next two years.
- Decide whether you are paying for Long-Term Support as a bridge or as the plan.
